about us

Selah Place is a long-term home for single mothers and their young children who need a safe place to start again.

We walk with families through housing, parenting classes, and practical support so moms and children can grow toward stability and hope.

How did we get here?

For years, Melanie felt a quiet ache for vulnerable families — an ache that only grew as she and her family explored ways to care for children in crisis. They looked into Safe Families. Then fostering. They went through the training, home studies, and interviews, willing to open their home to children who needed safety.

But when they reached the home inspection, the agency told them they had “too many children” of their own and could not continue. That door closed.

Around the same time, they met a young woman who was still in school and considering an abortion. Melanie and her family offered everything they could — support, a home, adoption, covering costs — but the young woman still chose abortion. It was heartbreaking. And it left a burning question:

“Where could she have gone? Where do mothers go who want to keep their babies but have nowhere safe to land?”

Slowly, and in ways only the Lord could weave together, this question became a direction.
A direction became a burden.
And that burden became Selah Place in 2021 — a home rooted in grace, practical help, discipleship, and the belief that every mother and child is made in the image of God.

And with a door closed around fostering children, another opened to foster mothers.
Because at Selah Place, motherhood is our ministry.
