Melanie Reimer saw a gap in supportive housing for women in Winnipeg—especially for mothers who wanted to keep their children but had nowhere safe to go.
After exploring fostering, one thing became clear: many women don’t lose their children because they don’t care—they lack support, stability, and a safe place to land.
That question—where do mothers go?—led to the start of Selah Place in 2021. After connecting with other church members, they created a board of directors. In the Spring of 2022, they were blessed with their first building, then expanded in August 2025.
Selah Place provides supportive housing for mothers and their children in Winnipeg, along with parenting support, life-skills training, and a community that walks alongside them as they build stability.
Because when you support a mother, you change the future for her child.
SELAH PLACE IS A LONG-TERM HOME FOR SINGLE MOTHERS AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO NEED A SAFE PLACE TO START AGAIN. WE WALK WITH FAMILIES THROUGH HOUSING, PARENTING CLASSES, AND PRACTICAL SUPPORT SO MOMS AND CHILDREN CAN GROW TOWARDS STABILITY AND HOPE.
